Even better if….

Summer Term 2017

  • Beal is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. To ensure that we continue to provide a safe learning environment for students, staff and all who visit our school please be advised that, from Monday 5th June, new site safety systems will be introduced. This will be a phased introduction, with final details in place for September 2017; when the school will reach full capacity.

From Monday 5th the following opening and closing times of the school will be in operation:

  • Supervision before school:

    • Gates on both the Upper and Lower sites will open to students at 8am
    • Students should not arrive before this time (unless authorised to do so); they will not be supervised
    • Students are expected to enter the school buildings and go straight to their form rooms on arrival – a.m. registration is at 8.25am
    • Gates on both sites will close again at 8.20am. Any student arriving after this time is late
    • Staff will monitor the gates after this time and will make a record of those students who arrive late for school
  • Supervision after school:

    • Students will be dismissed at 3.15pm
    • Gates on both the Upper and Lower sites will open at 3.10 pm
    • No motor vehicle can enter the Upper site gates between 3.10pm and 3.30pm
    • For the rest of this term, the Lower Site car park can be used by parents between 3.10pm and 3.30pm. This area will be supervised by staff. NB From September 2017, the lower site car park will not be available at any time for parents. Please make other arrangements
    • Vehicle gates on both sites will close at 3.40pm.
    • Students may stay in school until 4.30 pm for supervised extra lessons and after school co-curricular activities
    • Resource Centres on both sites will remain open and supervised until 4.30pm.
    • Pedestrian gates will close at 4.40pm, by which time all students should have left the school site
    • The school site will be locked from 5.10 pm
    • Additional instructions will be issued regarding authorised activity after these times
  • Visitors:

All strangers on the premises will be directed to either Upper or Lower site receptions and asked to sign in. If they have no legitimate reason for their presence in school, they will be asked to leave. Parents wanting to see staff should make appointments first and come to the relevant site reception to sign in and wait for the member of staff to greet them. All visitors are required to wear visitors’ ID lanyards.

We are committed to being an open school that supports its students and the local community. However, our priority is to ensure all students’ safety and we ask that you share in that obligation. We hope that these changes will also be an opportunity to support school/life balance and encourage students to transform their travel habits by walking which will have a positive impact on their health, wellbeing and the environment. Thank you for your support and cooperation.
