comprehensive for students aged 11-18 (including a small\nnumber of 19 year olds in year 13). We are a large school with over 2600 students on roll including a\nlarge 6th form. The principle of Quality First teaching coupled\nwith early intervention underpins the graduated approach taken at Beal High School. All teachers\nand support staff play a part in identification and support of students who may need additional\nsupport.<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-eb08af0 fadein elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"eb08af0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Progress of students is assessed through monitoring of academic levels, reading ages, friendship\ngroups, behaviour in class and behaviour around the school site. All of these things are indicators\nthat can prompt a member of staff to begin further investigation or prompt them to discuss a child\nwith colleagues. Termly reports for students are shared with parents. These assessments allow staff to identify students who may need additional support and determine how best to meet their individual needs.<\/p><p data-section-id=\"1ooe07n\" data-start=\"543\" data-end=\"566\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Transition to GCSEs<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"568\" data-end=\"794\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Students who may require additional support during examinations, known as <strong data-start=\"642\" data-end=\"665\">Access Arrangements<\/strong>, are identified at the start of their GCSEs. The special needs team knows that parental support and involvement in their\nchildren\u2019s learning is important therefore communication and partnership with parents is conducted\nthrough our system where the SEND Deputy HoY will regularly contact home regarding the progress\nand wellbeing of the child. In this case written consent is required from parents. Parents are invited to meet with the EP and SENCo to discuss\nthe process and their part in the process.
