We had an exciting MDV event on Thursday 9th January for our aspiring medics. The session was designed to help the MDV students to excel in their medical school interviews. This preparation session was led by experienced professionals from St. George\u2019s University, renowned for their expertise in medical education and admissions. Please see (attached) pictures from the event.
The students explored varied approaches to interview style questions with a positive mindset, digging deep into the rationale behind interviews \u2013 and MMIs specifically for medicine and healthcare courses. The talk was followed by interactive\/group discussions on six-to-eight example MMI-style questions.\u00a0About 30 MDV students took part in this event, and we received some positive feedback:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI really enjoyed the session and found it to be great help: to be able to hear example answers from a successful candidate, listen to tips from a examiner, hear example MMI questions and verbally communicate our own answers and hear feedback; adjusted my own understanding to the questions that may be asked and what as a candidate I need to have a clear understanding of and experience in to be successful. Additionally, the session allowed me gain insight to the type of university I’d like to attend myself and what they may offer me as part of the university experience.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI found the session very helpful as it showed us how our interviews might go and how we should approach the questions asked, including both our answers and the overall vibe we give to the assessors. I thought it was a great practice for the future and it really inspired me to do better so I could get to the point of an interview. \u201cI personally found the session quite useful. Both Arish and Emma seemed like confident speakers and made the session quite enjoyable and interactive. It was also very useful to get an insight on all the types of interviews that could occur and types of questions and it was certainly helpful. I believe more sessions like these in the future from current med students or doctors in training would be beneficial.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
