Staff vs Student Cricket Match: A Glorious Mix of Passion, Sweat & Questionable Rules<\/strong>

On a day when the sun showed absolutely no chill, a group of overly enthusiastic staff and students decided, \u201cWhat better way to dehydrate ourselves than a full-blown cricket match?\u201d And just like that, the much-awaited Staff vs Student cricket match was underway.

A decent crowd turned up\u2014some possibly expecting a dramatic collapse (of players, not wickets). Instead, they witnessed a match guided less by the laws of cricket and more by the divine spirit of pure entertainment<\/em>.

The students, after winning the toss, chose to bat for 30 minutes\u2014because who needs overs! They smashed a few glorious sixes and stylish fours in between dramatic gasps for air. Meanwhile, the staff managed to grab wickets at regular intervals\u2014just enough to suggest that they may still be athletes deep down… very deep down.

With 55 runs on the board, the staff were given 25 minutes to chase\u2014because fairness is overrated. Things took a tragic turn when the staff\u2019s star batsman (yes, that<\/em> one) was run out early, most likely betrayed by his own legs. To make matters tougher, the staff were already missing their dynamic duo, Ed Macleod and Colin Matheson\u2014last year\u2019s heroes and unofficial joint Men of the Match. Their absence was deeply felt . Enter the surprise superstar – Hassan Shafique, who stayed unbeaten and launched some towering sixes that possibly landed somewhere in another postcode.

Despite a heroic effort, the staff narrowly<\/em> fell short of the target\u2014purely by design, of course. After all, what better way to boost student morale than by letting them win? It was all part of the plan… right?

Huge thanks to everyone who took part, supported or brought the refreshments. A special shoutout to Nimi, Charlotte and the incredible Year 12 Prefect Team\u2014especially since we nearly pulled the plug at one point. But we stuck with it, and it turned out to be a brilliant day full of laughter, drama, and a surprisingly brought few people on to the cricket field for the first time in their life!
Here\u2019s to next year\u2014where we promise sunscreen, water… and maybe even a rulebook.
