This week, Year 8 students at our school took part in an exciting progression event designed to boost their confidence and prepare them for the world of work. The initiative, held on Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th November 2025, was delivered in partnership with Making the Leap<\/em>, a charity dedicated to connecting schools with leading employers and helping young people develop essential life and career skills.<\/p>\n

A Unique Experience in the KS3 Hall <\/strong>\ud83c\udf93<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the event, every Year 8 student participated in a one-to-one mock interview with representatives from two prestigious global employers: TATA Steel<\/strong>\u00a0and Morgan Stanley<\/strong>. This gave students a rare opportunity to practise professional communication in a supportive environment and gain valuable insights into the expectations of future employers.<\/p>\n

Building Confidence and Skills <\/strong>\ud83d\udca1<\/strong><\/p>\n

In preparation for the interviews, students were guided during form time and provided with example questions to help them feel ready. The interviews themselves were followed by constructive feedback, enabling students to reflect on their performance and identify areas for growth. The focus was on developing soft skills such as communication, confidence, and adaptability\u2014qualities that are vital not only in school but also in future careers.<\/p>\n

Professional Atmosphere <\/strong>\ud83d\udc54<\/strong><\/p>\n

Students attended in full school uniform and were escorted to their interviews by supervising teachers, ensuring the experience mirrored a real-world professional setting. This structure helped students take the event seriously while feeling supported throughout the process.<\/p>\n

Looking Ahead <\/strong>\ud83c\udf1f<\/strong><\/p>\n

This progression event was more than just an exercise\u2014it was a stepping stone toward future possibilities. By engaging with employers and practicing essential skills, Year 8 students have taken an important step in their journey of personal and academic growth.<\/p>\n
