The\u00a0UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge<\/strong>\u00a0is a national problem-solving competition aimed at students in Years 9\u201311. The competition not only assesses students\u2019 academic abilities, but also encourages the development of critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and creativity within the maths curriculum.<\/p>\n

This year, 90 students from Years 9 and 10 at Beal took part, and we\u2019ve had a really strong set of results.<\/p>\n

To recognise the highest performers, UKMT awards certificates to the top 50% of students nationally, split into Bronze, Silver and Gold in a 3:2:1 ratio. With that in mind, the following results are a great achievement:
\u2022\u00a0Gold<\/strong>: 7 students (approximately top 10% nationally)
\u2022\u00a0Silver<\/strong>: 18 students (approximately top 25% nationally)
\u2022\u00a0Bronze<\/strong>: 28 students (approximately top 50% nationally)<\/p>\n

A special mention goes to Ilyaas Hussain, who achieved Best in School with a score of 109, and Heer Dobariya, who was Best in Year 10 with a score of 100.<\/p>\n

Going a step further \u2014 and a really significant achievement \u2014 we had 6 students progress onto further rounds.<\/p>\n

The following students qualified for the Kangaroo rounds (approximately top 4,000 nationally in their year groups):
\u2022 Aayush Behera
\u2022 Syed Hussain
\u2022 Ammar Ahmed
\u2022 Moiz Shah<\/p>\n

The following students qualified for the Mathematical Olympiad (roughly top 500 nationally in their year group):
\u2022 Ilyaas Hussain \u2013 Cayley Olympiad
\u2022 Heer Dobariya \u2013 Hamilton Olympiad<\/p>\n

Reaching this stage places them among the strongest young mathematicians in the country!<\/p>\n

Well done to all students who took part \u2014 it\u2019s great to see so many getting involved and pushing themselves with challenging maths. The UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge is a fantastic opportunity for students to challenge themselves and gain recognition for their mathematical thinking. Beal students have performed brilliantly this year, and we look forward to seeing how those progressing continue to do in the next rounds.<\/p>\n
