The KS3 Food Technology and Textiles curriculum has been designed to inspire and motivate students through practical and investigative work. Food Technology is a fun and exciting course which focuses on practical cooking skills to ensure a thorough understanding of nutrition. It will also give students the essential life skills needed, whilst developing independence and confidence, along with knowledge and understanding of food hygiene and safety. Textiles lessons will develop problem solving, design and creative thinking skills by following a design brief. Students develop practical making skills through the construction of various products taking on board user experience.

Studying Eduqas GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition will build on the skills learnt at KS3, but in particular, will focus on the skills required to cook and apply the principles of food science, nutrition and healthy eating. It will enable students to make informed decisions about food and nutrition and will allow them to acquire knowledge and understanding required in order to be able to feed themselves and others affordably and nutritiously, now and later in life.
