On Wednesday 4th December, a group of Year 12 Prefects and select Year 10 students were invited to Redbridge Town Hall to attend the London Youth Summit which addressed misogyny and its impact on society and individuals. The students had the opportunity to hear from several powerful speakers who shared their personal stories and insights on the pervasive nature of misogyny, both in everyday life and across various situations. These speakers, who brought a diverse range of experiences, emphasized the importance of understanding how deeply ingrained societal attitudes contribute to gender inequality and the need for continued dialogue and education to challenge these harmful beliefs.

The event also provided practical strategies for combating misogyny, particularly among young people. The speakers discussed ways to promote respect, inclusivity, and equality within schools and communities, while also offering tools for peer advocacy and leadership. The students were also able to answer questions and put forward their own ideas and suggestions on what they thought would be valuable. Through this experience, the students gained valuable perspectives on how they can be proactive in creating change within their own environments. By introducing a culture of empathy and mutual respect, the group left the event with a renewed sense of responsibility to educate and inspire others, ensuring that the fight against misogyny continues for generations to come.
