On Tuesday 4th November we also held an Apprenticeship workshop (Levels 2 and 3) hosted by the Education Training Trust (EDT). The event took place in our one of our Maths school suites and was attended by KS5 and Year 11 students. Here is what the students had to say:
‘Attending the workshop was a really good way to gain insight into apprenticeships especially because it’s not talked about a lot until Yr11 or Yr13. The lecture style assembly and accompanying PowerPoint allowed us to comprehend how apprenticeships work and what levels are available. The lady who spoke to us provided clear information which enhanced our understanding of the topic. Despite the fact I was set on going to Sixth Form and university, this talk made me quite intrigued on pursuing a degree apprenticeship. I think this was a great opportunity for everyone and quite valuable to learn about the different pathways available rather than feeling limited to the traditional route i.e. A levels’. Janani Anandakumar (11GW)
‘It was a huge help in developing my understanding of different pathways I can follow post 16 and it also helped differentiate the different types of apprenticeship programmes available. The speaker was very good and easy to understand as she made sure everyone was gaining the same amount of knowledge. Although I would prefer to go to Sixth Form, the workshop helped me think about my future choices for example taking a degree apprenticeship instead of going to university. Overall it was a very insightful and knowledgeable experience’. Zainab Sohail (11GW)
