This year’s Progression Conference was held on Tuesday 4th November. The aim of the day was to support our Year 11 students as they enter a particularly busy period in their school life, while they prepare for upcoming exams and plan for their post-16 progression.
The event was co-hosted by Positively You, the UK’s leading provider of educational workshops.
Students engaged in four workshops during the course of the morning:
Exam busters – a workshop full of practical revision techniques to help achieve exam success.
Resilience – a workshop to help students build resilience and develop a positive, “can-do” attitude.
Unifrog – an online careers platform which all our students are signed up to; students engaged in activities to support their research into possible career pathways, as well as updating records of their engagement in extra-curricular activities (both in and out of school)
Career Fair – Students met with universities and Colleges and were able to interact with industry professionals and to learn about various progression routes and labour market information.
We are confident all students benefited from the day as feedback from the students at the end of the day showed great impact from all sessions.
‘ I think the progression conference today was very effective and helped me gain a better understanding of what kind of pathways are available to me. The assembly about revision techniques was very useful as it showed how we can recall and remember information easily. Also the resilience assembly helped me understand to not be hard on myself and have a growth mindset when it comes to revision’. Maisha Baloch (11ZA)
‘I believe the progression conference was very productive and beneficial to the choice of my next academic steps. It really helped me gain an idea of how to properly revise, also how many different techniques there are and how important finding the right one is for you. It also taught me the significance of being resilient, as the older you get the more difficulties we will have to face in life and in turn have to be able to overcome’. Renee Hurley (11BX)
‘I found the progression conference was very useful. it helped me get an idea of what I would like to do after GSCEs. I was shown which pathways are available, resilience and how to revise effectively. I gained a lot of important information which will help me in the future, in particular for mu upcoming GCSEs. Most importantly, the resilience assembly taught me how to gain a better mindset and not be so harsh on myself’. Lalie Jheeta (11BX)
