The Beal High School Paithon Club has achieved some major milestones this year, including:
- We have successfully built a virtual environment from the ground up in Python for testing machine learning algorithms or agents.
- A reinforcement learning agent was able to control a virtual robot to move from a starting position to a goal, avoiding obstacles along the way, with no human guidance whatsoever.
- We have successfully completed the electrical, electronic, and software design and construction of a physical robot from the ground up, using a Pico microcontroller.
We congratulate the 2025/26 cohort on their successes and look forward to the next academic session, where we have many exciting new developments in the works, including:
- Designing and building mechanical components for the robot
- Migrating the electrical and electronic components to a bespoke PCB
- Developing and training machine learning algorithms or agents
- Fun games and challenges throughout the year
