Our Year 11 cohort have made a fantastic start to their final year of GCSE studies following their first week back at school. Students have returned with a positive attitude, a strong sense of purpose and a real commitment to making the most of the opportunities ahead as they prepare for their next steps into sixth form, college or an apprenticeship.
Across lessons, students have demonstrated excellent engagement, resilience and enthusiasm for their learning. They are beginning to recognise the increased expectations that come with this crucial year and have responded maturely, showing that they are ready to take greater ownership of their progress and achievement.
The first week has been an encouraging indication of what this cohort can achieve over the year ahead. We are particularly pleased to see students embracing challenge, supporting one another and developing the habits and routines that will support them throughout their GCSE journey and beyond.

“The first week back has been an adjustment after the summer; however, it’s been extremely beneficial to be back in an academic setting with such a regimented routine. Over the last week I’ve enjoyed seeing my friends and meeting new subject teachers. This year, Year 11 is such a crucial year and sets the stage for us to decide what we’re going to do moving forward as we enter post-16 life, whether that be going to sixth form, college or doing an apprenticeship. I’m confident that with the help of our year team, careers advisors and the exemplary teachers at Beal High School, we’ll be able to make appropriate and well-informed decisions. Although it’s only been a week, I can already see many students, both inside and out of my social circle, beginning to take their studies much more seriously, which is largely due to the encouragement of teachers. I’ve spoken to lots of younger students in passing and know that, as well as my year, they have integrated well. This will be a great year!”
